It is my belief that in the very near future, artist-computer programmers will become very common. Programming as a skill is really analogous to playing a musical instrument, a demanding process to initially learn but rewarding eventually.
I've been a commercial computer programmer for many years. I also studied art as an undergraduate. Even though it seems obvious now, I became aware that I was not following the established path for either career. Oh well. But it hit me that what I needed to pursue was computer driven art work. I really needed a way to share what I was doing with like-minded people.
