I haven’t painted for years but thought I should include some from several years back. To be honest I’m not sure my years are right but I think I’m close.

Aquarius always seemed to me to be the zodiac sign of those who love television science documentaries. The health of a community is not measured by how learned a people are but how intellectually curious they are.

Sometimes people can not sit still because they have the belief that there is always something around the corner. The four snake like shapes are curiosity snakes.

I feel sorry for people who are not able to feel comfortable with other people due to their own strange fears. In order to avoid spiritual, intimate, or what ever you want to call it contact they put some sort of psychic barrier in front of the other person. The barriers can appear as sharp shapes or spiky barbs. They are tied together with deflective words. The people can appear to be conversing because over time they have developed a facade of interaction.

To be honest I am not sure what I am seeing in the work. Is it birth?

Maybe this painting belongs in a dining room?

I had to look up the word “kowtow” to double check its meaning. As I worked on this I began to see artists acting in a servile manner to those who had obtained positions of potential influence. Perhaps an Ellsworth Toohey from The Fountainhead.  (Maybe my Ayn Rand reference is making me think I am some sort of high-brow.)

As I worked on this I began to see a garrulous group of people, perhaps liberated by drink, all competing with each other to get a word in. Sometimes it could be a celebratory happy painting, sometimes a parody of humans in social settings.

Perhaps the soft round shapes that came out as I was working on this made me see a Manatee. Manatees are wonderful creatures, large vegetarians that are apparently related to the elephant. Sometimes they can be seen in the Miami River in downtown Miami. They are amazing to watch from a bridge looking at them in the water.
